For doctors and qualified nurses
Working in Switzerland.
The move is entirely feasible, but it does not happen by itself. That is why each argument below comes with what it involves.
The case for it — and what comes with it.
- Pay levels are clearly higher.
- Living costs are higher too, above all rent and health insurance. We calculate together beforehand what you will be left with at the end of the month.
- You work in German.
- Swiss German is spoken on the ward. You learn to understand it in the first few weeks; you do not have to speak it.
- German qualifications are eligible for recognition.
- Eligible for recognition does not mean recognised: a separate procedure applies. We guide you through it, but others make the decision.
- Nursing and medicine are highly regarded there.
- A good reputation is no assurance of what your ward will be like. We clarify how a facility works before any placement.
- Distances are short and quality of life is high.
- A move abroad is still a move: permit, change of insurance, flat-hunting in a tight market.
Four stages, in this order.
Advice
What you want, your qualifications, your canton, the figures. Non-binding — and honest even when the move does not suit you right now.
Recognition
Gathering documents, starting the procedure, keeping an eye on deadlines. This stage takes the longest.
Placement
Suitable hospitals and facilities, preparing for the interviews, clarifying the terms before you accept.
Settling in
Permit, insurance, accommodation. Contact does not end with your signature.
